• The total investment of the project is nearly US $6 billion, focusing on sub projects such as nickel mining and processing, battery materials, battery manufacturing and battery recycling
• The establishment of the tripartite partnership is an important milestone for the Ningde era to explore the global layout, and will also promote the development of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia
On April 14, Puqin Times, a subsidiary of Guangdong Bangpu, signed a tripartite agreement with PT Aneka Tambang (ANTAM) and PT Industri Baterai Indonesia (IBI) in Indonesia to jointly build power battery industry chain projects including nickel mining and smelting, battery materials, battery manufacturing and battery recycling. Guangdong Bangpu is a subsidiary of Ningde Times Holdings.
According to the agreement, the three parties will invest in the construction of the power battery industry chain project in the FHT Industrial Park and other relevant industrial parks in East Hamahara County, North Maluku Province, Indonesia, with a total investment amount of no more than 5.968 billion dollars.
ANTAM is a state-owned mining company listed in Indonesia. Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBI) is an Indonesian state-owned company. It is an investment company newly established by Indonesia National Petroleum Corporation, National Power Corporation, National Mining Corporation and ANTAM for battery production. It mainly invests in batteries and related industrial chain projects in Indonesia and overseas.
The project will further improve the strategic layout of Ningde Times in the battery industry, ensure the supply of upstream key resources and raw materials, reduce production costs, and promote the company's battery recycling industry layout.
"The Indonesian power battery industry chain project is a milestone in the global strategic layout of the Ningde era." Zeng Yuqun, the founder and chairman of Ningde Times, said, "The Indonesian project will become a symbol of the evergreen friendship between China and Indonesia, and we are confident in the future development of the project."
Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination of Indonesia, said: "The framework agreement signed today is of great significance for Indonesia to build the electric vehicle industry chain strategy. I believe that with the efforts of all parties, this project will be successfully implemented."
